New Micro Deburring Tool Brings More Efficiency and Cost Effectiveness to High Volume Runs

For Immediate Release — August 24, 2010 —E-Z Burr’s newest innovation, the Component Micro Series (CMS), offers efficiency all around by smoothly deburring and chamfering a full range of micro sized holes in high volume production runs.

This new high performance Component Micro Series was developed to save manufacturers time and money. It consists of a 3-component design that is comprised of a tool holder, a solid arbor and a high speed steel (HSS) blade. This independent design allows for easy component replacement in which the solid arbor can be replaced without changing the blade, or the blade be replaced without changing the solid arbor. The blades and arbors can be changed while the tool is still in the machine.

“We are really proud of the design, speed and operation of this tool,” says Bill Robinson, owner of E-Z Burr Tool Company. “Not only does it deburr the front and backside of a hole in a single pass in seconds, but you can also change the blade or arbor in no time at all. The cutting angle can also be changed for more or less aggressive cutting.”

E-Z Burr also offers the added benefit of coating the CMS blades, which is not available with the standard Micro Series which features a cartridge design. “Coating the blades allows the tool to hold up better with the tougher or even gummier materials, which is what you see in the Aerospace and Medical industries,” explains Robinson.

“Our standard cartridge style Micro Series tools are still recommended to use on several applications . The main difference with this new design is for very high usage applications in which changing the blades or arbors only, will provide a cost savings in the long run over replacing the entire cartridge,” added Robinson.

One of the other strong benefits of the Component Micro Series is its ability to deburr hard to reach or nearly impossible-to-access holes. Tiny holes can become a bottleneck in the manufacturing process, and with this tool, deburring holes in the size range of .057 (1.45mm) through .092 (2.34mm), will serve as great solution.

“With this component design you can quickly and easily replace blades and arbors while the tool is still in the machine. Our ability to coat the blades for tough materials combined with our same great patented E-Z Burr features, will save manufacturers time and money,” says Robinson. “And at the end of the day, that is what it is all about.”

E-Z Tool Calculator, Newest Online Innovation to Assist Customers in Seconds

Visitors Can Easily Calculate the Appropriate Tool and Blade and Insert Instantly

For Immediate Release—January 7, 2010—E-Z Burr Tool Company is proud to unveil their latest online innovation, The E-Z Tool Calculator. Again, blazing a trail in online innovation, E-Z Burr Tool Company saves customers time in figuring out which tool will work perfectly for their specific application and material.

The new E-Z Tool Calculator offers a very simplistic way to see exactly what tool, blade or insert to order, as well as the speeds and feeds for the tool. Visitors just simply type in the hole diameter, shank size, application material, cutting condition, and cutting style. In mere seconds, it calculates exactly what tool to order, what blade or insert works best with that tool, the speeds and feeds as well as a picture showing the tool specs.

“Our goal is to make the customer experience with E-Z Burr the best it can possibly be,” explains Bill Robinson, owner of E-Z Burr Tool Company. “We always say that we save our customers time and money, and this is another example of that promise. Not only is their time valuable on the job, but also in preparing for the job and ordering tools. What before may have taken a few minutes, can now take a few seconds.”

Ezburr.com was launched in March of 2008 and shows visitors exactly how their tools work by utilizing 3D animation. Visitors to the website can see everything about the tools in a matter of seconds right on the home page. The 3D animation allows the tools to become transparent so visitors can view the inside of the tools. This offers a more comprehensive look at how every aspect of the tool works including the patented locking system and adjustable blade.

Since the launch of the new Ezburr.com website in March of 2008, E-Z Burr has seen a consistent increase in visitors to the site, growing from 1284 to 2934 (100% growth). In addition, visitors are spending an average of 3 minutes on the site when most other sites average 25 seconds (according to Google).

“Our deburring tools are very high quality. We believe that our website and marketing should reinforce that quality and innovation that we tout,” enthuses Robinson.

E-Z Burr Tool Company Announces New “Small Hole” Carbide Series

For Immediate Release — E-Z Burr Tool Company is pleased to announce the launch of their new “Small Hole” Carbide deburring tool. This new tool design extends E-Z Burr’s high performance Carbide Series to now deburr hole diameters as small as .125 inches.

E-Z Burr’s new “Small Hole” Carbide tool was designed specifically for hard-to-machine materials, and exotic applications. “We wanted to develop a technologically advanced carbide tool for hole deburring in the diameter range of 1/8 through 1/4 inch. The largest percentage of our sales is in this diameter range and until now, we only had High Speed Steel (HSS) available,” says Robinson. “Now we can offer manufacturers a carbide tool for tough materials and smaller holes that deburrs up to 3x faster and lasts up to 5x longer than HSS in this size range.”

“Over the past year, we tested this tool extensively and achieved successful results,” explains Bill Robinson, President of E-Z Burr Tool Company. “With a Carbide deburring tool this small in size combined with a high caliber of quality and performance rate, we know it will significantly help our customers save time and money over other deburring methods.”

E-Z Burr has been innovating and manufacturing deburring tools for almost 50 years in which their patented deburring tool design deburrs both the front and backside of a hole in a single pass, and allows for easy blade or insert change and cutting pressure adjustment while the tool is still in the machine. The new “Small Hole” Carbide Tool features a carbide insert attached to an HSS flex arm with a “dovetail” fit. This unique dovetail joint design requires no other mechanical fasteners. “The flex arm is a one-piece construction that allows it to be changed as easily as our HSS blades,” explains Robinson. “And, we are featuring a variety of coatings and geometries to handle a range of cutting conditions from easy to difficult.

“We are always thinking of our customers efficiency when developing our tools. That is why we combined the faster speeds and feeds of Carbide, our patented insert replacement system, along with the ability to deburr smaller hole diameters,” enthuses Robinson.

E-Z Burr Announcement: Adjustment Screw Changes

In an effort to continuously upgrade and improve our E-Z Burr tools, we are proud to announce two important changes to our adjustment screws that have immediately been put into effect.

E-Z Burr Tool Company is now using Loctite 242 to replace the Loctite 222 that we have previously been using on adjustment screws on our deburring tools.

Through extensive testing, we have found that the additional strength and holding power of the Loctite 242 ensures that the adjustment screw will stay in place through machine vibrations. The position of the blade will be consistent from blade to blade and will eliminate the possibility of the blade height or tension from wandering.

Of course after multiple adjustments, a small drop of Loctite 242 should be re-applied to restore the security of the screw.

E-Z Burr Tool Company will also be supplying a 5/64 hex size screw instead of our previous standard screw hex of 3/32. The new screws have been installed in all of our tools and will provide a stronger, more improved hex that will not break when additional torque is placed on it. Combined with the Loctite 242, this change in hex will increase the resistance to vibration and will prevent the chance of the screw loosening.

When our tools are assembled at the factory, we apply a small drop of Loctite 242 MS “Thread locker” to the adjustment screw. We then adjust the blade or insert to the proper height which is typically a low height to prevent too much initial cutting action. We understand that customers will adjust the blade to achieve the proper chamfer required for their specific application, however once proper chamfer is achieved we recommend that the adjusting screw not be moved.

If the Locktite loses it effectiveness, this could allow the adjustment screw to roam, which may cause the blade or insert height to waver and the chamfer will be inconsistent. We recommend the following. By using a standard Allen wrench to back the adjusting screw out to expose 3 to 4 threads, apply a small drop of Loctite 242 to the threads, adjust the blade or insert to the proper cutting height.

The adjustment screw does not need to be touched during blade replacement and the blade does not need to be touched during adjustment. Please remember that locking screws and adjustment screws have two separate and unrelated functions. You do not have to “unlock” the locking screw to adjust the blade, nor do you have to back the adjustment screw out to remove a blade or insert. In fact, that will actually harm the tool and possibly result in “stripped threads.”

If you have any further questions regarding these changes, please email info@ezburr.com or call 1.800.783.5310.

E-Z Burr Offers TiAlN and ZrN Coatings for Carbide Inserts New Coatings Available for Special Applications and Materials

For Immediate Release, March 5, 2008 – E-Z Burr Tool Company is proud to announce the addition of two new coatings, TiAln and ZrN, for their Carbide Series deburring inserts. E-Z Burr Tool Company has long been aware of the advantages of TiAlN coating when machining difficult materials, and through extensive field-testing, research, and customer feedback, E-Z Burr has decided to now offer these two coating options for tough to machine applications.

“During recent extensive testing on an inconel component for a major aerospace customer, we found that the TiAlN coating was a big improvement over TiN due to the higher temperatures that are generated on this type of application.” says Bill Robinson, owner of E-Z Burr Tool Company.

These carbide insert coatings are handled as special requests and will not be added to the catalog at this time. The TiAlN coating is for Stainless Steel, Inconel, and other high-nickel based alloys, whereas the ZrN coating is for machining Titanium or aircraft grade Titanium composites. It also works very well on aluminum, copper, brass, and cast iron.
